According to a post on the airport website on Friday, the Canadian Aviation Safety Authority is facing “persistent staff shortages” causing “long queues and long delays in handling passengers”. Anyone having a domestic flight is said to arrive at least two hours before departure. Those flying to the US or any other international destination are said to arrive three hours earlier. “We want you to be prepared. So we will honestly share what it’s like to travel to the airport now. The truth? There will be queues. You have to be patient and you may have to wait,” the website said. “Please do not arrive at the airport one hour before your flight takes off.” The airport authorities are asking people to help make the journey through safety as smooth as possible, remembering and keeping a 100 millimeter limit for liquids and having documents ready – including proof of vaccination. Although masks are no longer mandatory indoors in BC, the airport is under federal jurisdiction and face masks are still required.
Will you be flying from YVR soon? Arrive at least three hours before your scheduled flight. Continuous delays in security checks result in long queues at the airport. More here: https://t.co/IbZJDYcAde – YVR (@yvrairport) April 29, 2022
