Along with Pugh and Styles, the cast includes Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Sydney Chandler and Nick Kroll. Wilde will also play a supporting role in the film. Although Pugh will be the main character in the film, the film is notable for Styles’ first starring role in addition to “One Direction” related content. The official synopsis of “Don’t Worry Darling” by Warner Bros. says: “Alice (Pugh) and Jack (Styles) are lucky to live in Victory, the experimental city of the company that hosts the men who work on the top secret Victory Project. and their families. Life is perfect, with the needs of every resident being covered by the company. All they are asking for in return is an unquestionable commitment to Niki’s case. But when cracks begin to appear in their idyllic life, exposing flashes of something far more sinister hidden beneath the attractive façade, Alice can not help but wonder what they do at Victory and why. “How much is Alice willing to lose to reveal what is really going on in paradise?” Wilde claims to have been inspired by the psychosexual thrillers “Fatal Attraction” and “Andecent Proposal” for the film. The film is Wilde’s second directorial project after her teen comedy “Booksmart”, starring Caitlin Dever and Beanie Feldstein, which was released in 2019. Wilde also mentioned “Inception”, “The Matrix” and “The Truman Show »as sources of inspiration speaking at CinemaCon. He calls the movie “a letter of love for movies that go beyond our imagination”. “I want you to imagine a life where you have everything you could want,” Wilde said. “Not just materials, tangible things… like a beautiful house, perfect weather and great cars. But also the things that really matter, such as true love or the perfect partner or real trusting friendships and a purpose that makes sense. “Don’t Worry Darling” premieres in theaters on September 23.
