The 49-year-old, who was walking his dog in the area, had gotten into an argument with a group of golfers near the 16th green of the Cochrane Castle golf course in Johnstone, shortly before he was attacked. The incident occurred around 5.55 on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services were present and the victim was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment. The medical staff has described his injuries as seriously as the police investigating the incident’s call for witnesses. Sergeant Detective Jason Buxton, of Paisley CID, said: “A man has been seriously injured and it is imperative that we find out who is responsible. “Officers are conducting investigations in the surrounding area after the incident. “We believe the area would be very busy with golfers and would appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident get in touch. “If you were in the area at the time, think again and contact us if you have any information that might help our investigation.” Anyone with any information is kindly requested to contact the police via 101.
