THUNDER BAY – The outbreak of COVID-19 at the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home in Thunder Bay has widened. The outbreak was first announced on April 18, 2022 at the Cheshire and Renaissance plants of the Shuniah Street facility. On Monday, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Southbridge Care Homes announced that it is now considered an epidemic throughout the facility. No further details were given in the TBDHU press release. Southbridge said in a post on its website that nine residents and six staff members at Cheshire and Renaissance had tested positive for COVID-19. He said that everyone who was infected was fully vaccinated and that staff members were isolated at home. Southbridge said it works closely with public health staff, its own medical staff and infection prevention and control specialists to manage the condition. The TBDHU also announced Monday afternoon that new cases of COVID have been reported at Hogarth Riverview Manor 2 North (Lavender’s residential area) and at St. John’s Hospital Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit.
