A man has been arrested for assaulting a police officer and investigations have been launched into a total of 12 criminal acts, police say. 
A police officer and a civilian were injured, although the extent of these injuries is unknown. 
The protest escalated around 5:45 pm
An SPVM spokesman said stones were thrown through the windows of commercial buildings and at police, while the property was graffiti.

Some protesters placed objects in the street to slow down police, according to the spokesman, who said “chemical irritants” were used to control the crowd.
Police say the situation is now under control and most of the crowd has been evacuated.
