The mother of two, from Padiham, was last seen getting into a Ford Transit truck in Burnley on April 22. Her body was found by Lancashire police officers in the Bowland Forest on Friday night.

read more Katie Kenyon’s murder suspect appears in court for the first time A Lancashire police spokesman said: “We can now confirm with sadness that the body found in the Bowland Forest belongs to Katie Kenyon. “Police found Katie on Friday after extensive investigations and she is now officially identified as the missing mother Padiham, 33 years old. “An autopsy-necropsy was performed by the Ministry of Interior and the cause of death was given as head injuries.

“Our thoughts remain with Katie’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. The family continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

“We would like to thank, once again, all those who helped in the search for Katie.”

Andrew Burfield, 50, of Todmorden Road in Burnley, has appeared in court on murder charges and will stand trial in November.
