Merseyside police received reports of fireworks outside the Hilton Hotel in central Liverpool at around 1am on Sunday, May 1st. Widely circulated footage on social media showed fireworks being fired just outside the hotel near the Royal Albert Dock. Another video on Twitter shows fireworks pointing in the direction of the hotel, while a third shows fireworks and smoke devices being fired at the front entrance of the hotel. Door staff appear to be standing at the hotel entrance when the missiles are fired. There are unconfirmed reports of Chelsea FC players staying at the hotel before their game against Everton FC at Goodison Park today. A Merseyside police spokesman told ECHO: “We can confirm that we received a report of fireworks outside the Hilton Hotel in downtown Liverpool around 1 am this morning, Sunday May 1. It is against the law carrying or using adult fireworks if you are under 18 and it is illegal for people of any age to drop or throw a firework in a public place. “Also, you should not light fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except on New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year.
