“He has a secret weapon that no one talks about much in the media, which is that he does a huge job at the base,” Portman of Ohio told Fox News. “She has knocked on more doors – not personally, but her volunteers, she has knocked on many of them herself – and has made more phone calls than all the other campaigns.” That excitement of the base came at Friday’s Portman event at Timken’s Columbus campaign headquarters. About 50 close supporters, campaign members and volunteers rallied for what looked like a demonstration, with enthusiastic speeches by Portman and Timken. HOUSE FIREBRANDS GAETZ, GREEN SAY VANCE IS THE SENSORY ALLY NEEDED TO MAKE A STOP CAMPAIGN “What time is it?” shouted Portman to the crowd. “Timken time,” they replied. The event contrasts with the rallies held by other candidates across the state, where many of the voters present are undecided, trying to hear from one candidate before making their decision. But according to Timken, the voters to whom her campaign reaches the front door and over the phone are the ones who can put her on top. “We did not stop and I was outside knocking on doors today,” Timken told Fox News. “We are out all over Ohio. We have spoken to nearly 1.5 million Republican voters knocking on doors and making phone calls … We will be watching the tape until the polls close by May 3.” The numbers support the idea that there are still many convincing voters out there, according to Portman. Timken and other non-Vance candidates say most Ohio voters remain skeptical of Vance, who has been a vocal critic of Trump in 2016, despite his support. “They are skeptical. We see it every day. I hear from voters every day,” Timken said of what she hears from voters about Vance. “Obviously JD Vance not only made some derogatory remarks about President Trump, but more importantly he made derogatory remarks about President Trump.” CLICK HERE TO RECEIVE THE FOX NEWS APPLICATION And with her huge group of volunteers, whose T-shirts are named after Trump as well as her own, Timken says she can still top the qualifying night. “I played rugby in college.
