Niagara Police Are Charged With Murder After Locating A Dead Man In Welland

The police officers were called to disturb a house in the area of ​​Merarchias Street and Alexandrou Street around 23:40.
When they arrived, they found two male victims with significant injuries.  One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
A suspect was located at the scene and taken into custody.
Police said Sunday that 33-year-old Joel Drewer has been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and two counts of assaulting a police officer.
He is being held pending a bail hearing in Hamilton on Sunday.
Niagara police said there was a strong police presence at the scene as investigations continued, but did not believe there was a continuing threat to public safety.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators or call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
