The fire broke out after midnight at the back of Dim Sum Palace in a four-story mixed-use building in Chatham Square. “Because of the five emergency firefighters on Chatham Square and Mott Street, Manhattan residents can see or smell smoke,” the city’s emergency management account said on Twitter shortly before 3 p.m. early morning. The bill had previously advised people nearby to avoid smoking and keep their windows closed. There was no immediate word on whether anyone was injured in the blaze.
