Met Gala 2022: The best fashion from the red carpet See all the best performances as the stars arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday afternoon. The Met Gala is the big fashion night out – and celebrities are known for storing their most striking outfits on its often theatrical red carpet. Pandemic-related reprogramming means less than eight months have passed since the stars last landed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the (usually) annual fundraiser, giving designers less time to think about the event’s dress code: “Gilded Glamor and White Tie ». The theme is expected to continue the exploration of American style in 2021, in accordance with the accompanying two-part exhibition of the Costume Institute, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”. At the press event of the exhibition before the gala, the First Lady Dr. Jill Biden made inaugural remarks on the Met, emphasizing the “rich and deep” history of American design. “It is a story of innovation and ingenuity, of rebellion and renewal,” he said. “It is often written by those in the shadows, who are not recognized for their influence and art, but here at the Met their stories are told. “Their voices are raised and their work can shine.” Before the red carpet on Monday, one of the most important American designers, Tommy Hilfiger, whose work appears on the show, told CNN that the event offered designers the opportunity to “show their unique interpretations of fashion and pop culture. “I always look forward to seeing the designers interpret the theme with their own creativity, identity and twist, and I’m sure this year will be no exception,” Hilfiger said in an email. “The Met Gala is about having an open mind and thinking outside the box.” Former Yeezy designer Maisie Schloss, who now owns her own Los Angeles-based company, Maisie Wilen, said the combination of high fashion and the fundraiser made him a “unique” red carpet. “The events embraced by industry insiders and the masses allow creativity to peak,” he said via email, adding: “I hope the guests show off their most decadent but playful appearance.” This story and photos will be updated overnight.
