The Lancashire Police Department said an autopsy found he had died of head injuries. Officers said a body was found Friday night in the Bowland Forest. On Sunday afternoon, the force wrote on Twitter: “We can now sadly confirm that the body found in the Bowland Forest belongs to Katie Kenyon. “We found Katie on Friday after extensive investigations and she is now officially recognized as the missing mom Padiham, 33 years old. “An autopsy was performed at the Ministry of Interior yesterday and the cause of death was reported as head injuries. “Our thoughts remain with Katie’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. The family continues to be supported by our specially trained executives “. Kenyon was last seen around 9.30am. on Friday, April 22, when he is believed to have traveled in a silver Ford Transit truck that left Burnley for the Bolton-by-Bowland area of Lancashire. Andrew Burfield, 50, was charged Wednesday with her murder. He appeared via video link in Preston Court on Friday and spoke only to confirm his identity during the seven-minute hearing. Burfield, from Burnley Todmorden Road, was remanded in custody pending trial on November 14. On Saturday afternoon, Det Supt Gary Brooks, head of the Lancashire Police Department, said: “I would like to thank the public and the media for all the help they have given us during a protracted, complicated and very moving research, and I would also like to thank both the collaborating services and all the police and staff involved in Katie’s search. “Although this is not the conclusion of these quests that any of us would like, I know that the family appreciates these efforts.”
