The man’s family has been informed and the force says it will be backed by specialist officers. An autopsy-necropsy will be arranged in due time. Police at the scene have cordoned off the Greenwich DLR station today and trains are moving but not stopping at the station. BTP officers leading the investigation remain in custody this morning. Chief Inspector Detective Steve May said: “It was a shocking and brutal act of violence that resulted in a man losing his life tragically today. While we are at an early stage of our investigation, we believe that this attack followed a quarrel near the entrance of Belushi’s bar on Greenwich High Road. “The officers are working tirelessly to locate the perpetrator and I will urge anyone who may have seen what happened or the events that led to it to contact us as soon as possible. Likewise, if you were driving in the area at the time, check the dash com’s plans for anything unpleasant. “Your information could be crucial to our investigation.” Police say an urgent investigation is under way, but no arrests have been made yet.
