About 7:49 p.m. Last night, Carver police received a call to 911 to report a car in the water in the area of 7 Holmes Street. removed from the motor vehicle by persons present at the scene. The male victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 35-year-old Brendan McGuffigan. Carver’s police contacted Massachusetts State Police officers assigned to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office to launch an investigation. Preliminary, as a result of interviews with witnesses at the scene, it appears that McGuffigan left the dirt road under an embankment in a lake and the motor vehicle landed upside down in the water, trapping him in the truck. The area where the motor vehicle came off the road looked wet and muddy and in some places narrow. The family set up a GoFundMe for expenses incurred due to Brendan’s untimely death. McGuffigan has been described by those who knew him as a selfless, kind and handsome man with a smile that could light up a room and a silly personality and make him laugh. The fundraiser has raised over $ 4,200 as of this writing. The investigation is ongoing.
