A man was found shot dead early Sunday morning in an operation in Streeterville, according to Chicago police. The male victim, whose age was not immediately known, was found unresponsive to gunshot wounds to the 200-square-foot East Walton Place at about 5:00 a.m., police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated. No one was in custody. A man has been taken into custody after a man was shot dead while trying to commit a robbery on Saturday afternoon at Calumet Heights on the south side. Two men were returning to their vehicle from a store at about 3:45 p.m. on the 1,500-square-foot East 95th Street when they began talking to the 32-year-old, Chicago police said. The couple then got into a Volkswagen SUV and the man got into the back seat, hit one of them with a pistol and demanded their belongings, police said. One of the men then pulled out his own gun and shot the would-be robber, hitting him in the forehead, left leg and chest, police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. He was identified as Xavier Johnson by Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. About 30 minutes later, Kier Carmichael-Smith was in the parking lot at 1300 block of East 47th Street when a light-colored vehicle got up and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police and the medical examiner’s office said. The 27-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds and escaped to a restaurant, police said. He was then taken to the University of Chicago where he was later pronounced dead, police said. Two women were shot – one fatally – after an altercation in the early hours of Saturday in the Near North. The women, 31 and 26, were arguing with the gunman around 1 a.m. on the sidewalk at 300-square-foot North State Street when he shot them both, police said. The youngest woman was shot in the chest and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Her name has not been made public yet. The elderly woman was shot in the left thigh and taken to the same hospital in good condition, officials said. Hours later, two men were shot, one fatally, in Albany Park on the northwest side. At around 6:05 a.m., police found two men, about 30 years old, and another 56, with gunshot wounds at 3400 West Sunnyside Avenue, police said. A man was found shot dead early Sunday morning inside a Gold Coast operation in the Near North Side, police said. The man, whose age was not immediately known, was found indifferent with gunshot wounds to his entire body at 200 East Square Walton Place around 5 a.m., police said. He was taken to Northwestern, where he was pronounced dead, police said. A 69-year-old man was shot dead Friday night in Austin, West Side. The man was in a house at about 5:45 p.m. at 300-square-foot South Kilpatrick Avenue when a suspect pulled out a gun and fired, police said. He was hit in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name has not been made public. Hours later, a man was found shot dead in Douglas on the South Side. At about 10:15 p.m., police were responding to a Shot Spotter call on the 3400-block on South Indiana Avenue when they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds, Chicago police said. The man, 40, was shot in the chest, side and arm, according to police. His death was confirmed at the scene. His name is not yet known. A 16-year-old boy was shot and seriously injured Sunday morning in a park in Albany Park on the Northwest Side. The teenager was a passenger in a car at about 2:20 p.m. at 4400-block on North Central Park Avenue when a dark SUV stopped and someone inside opened fire, hitting him in the left side of the face, police said. He was taken to St. John’s Hospital. Francis, where he was recorded in critical condition, officials said. The dark SUV continued south after the shooting, officials said.
