Casey White, 38, was jailed for homicide at Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama, about 75 miles west of Huntsville. He is 6 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs about 260 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes, according to authorities. “Casey White… is an extremely dangerous person and we need to find him and get him out of the way,” Singleton told reporters during a news conference Monday morning. Casey Cole White and Vicky White appear in a combination of photos. Casey White was already serving a prison sentence for attempted murder and burglary and was due to stand trial next month for the stabbing death of a 58-year-old woman, a charge in which he would face the death penalty if convicted. At a news conference Friday, Singleton said Vicky White, the 56-year-old assistant director of correctional services, was armed when she left prison with Casey White and went to court for what she said was a mental health assessment of the detainee. She was alone with him, which the sheriff said violated the department’s policy. The vehicle that transported the two when they left the detention center was found in a nearby parking lot of a mall, according to the sheriff’s office. Singleton said Monday that a recently discovered surveillance video showing the vehicle at a traffic light minutes after his release from prison led investigators to believe they went straight to the parking lot without stopping in court. Singleton also said that no mental health assessment was planned for the detainee. Friday was supposed to be Vicky White’s last day at work before she retired, Singleton said. She sold her house about a month ago and talked about going to the beach, the sheriff said. “Everyone thought he was going to retire,” Singleton said. “You know, nobody saw that coming.” The sheriff said authorities did not know where the two could be. “If we knew where they were, we would be there and not here,” Singleton said. The U.S. military said Sunday it was offering up to $ 10,000 for information leading authorities to find the two. “We consider both of them dangerous and they are probably both armed,” US Marshal Marty Kylie told a news conference on Monday.
