Karly Scott, from Gilmerton, Edinburgh, turned her world upside down after the sudden death of her mother, Leila Scott, just 44 years old.

She suffered from an underlying health condition and unfortunately left behind Karly, her two grandchildren and her youngest son Lennox. While mourning the loss of her beloved mom, 24-year-old Karly makes juggling arrangements for the funeral, moves into the house and tries to obtain the legal guardianship of her teenage brother. The family of the mourners is devastated by the loss of their mother, whom they describe as “their rock” and “the kindest, most beautiful man”. Karly and Lennox were extremely attached to Leila, who raised them on her own. Speaking to Edinburgh Live Karly said: “We were always so close, I was 12 years old when Lennox was born. It was always the three of us. “He always made sure we had more than we needed and he was the only person I could really count on. “Ever since I had a relationship and had children, I moved, so it was just Lennox and my mom. But I live in the corner and I also have two small children. “I have a son and a daughter, Cody who is three and Freya who is one, my mom helped me so much with them and she was always there – I never had to ask. “They loved her a little, it’s very difficult with the kids, even though Freya is only one when she sees a picture of my mom, she asks ‘where is Nana?’ And I do not understand why we can not go to visit anymore.” Karly and her beautiful mom. Their mom owns a three-bedroom, family-friendly residential property nearby – as well as countless precious memories to which they are now trying to move. The 24-year-old continued: “I have to change house now, we have to go through all the paperwork to make sure it is legal. My house has two bedrooms and my mom has three bedrooms, so we work with a housing officer hoping she will move there. “There are many legalities for me to become my brother’s legal guardian, they are too many. “We spent many of our childhood years in this house and my children know Nana’s house. “Freya asks me every day ‘where is Nana?’ and I explain that he is in heaven and no longer with us, but he does not really understand and he is trying to shake the sky. “ Lennox, who has lived alone with his mom for the past two years, is still in shock at the devastating loss. Karly said: “Lennox is still in shock, he is devastated and devastated. He is worried about what is happening to him now and what will happen to his home and all of our mom’s belongings. “It has had a huge impact on our lives.” There is no life insurance, savings or financial support for the family, as their mother was not well and unable to work. So a fundraising page was set up to raise funds to give Leila the mission she deserves and to support the family in this difficult time. Leila was loved by so many and the fundraiser has already reached £ 2000 so far, Karly said: “I am so grateful and surprised by the kindness, the funeral expenses are estimated at around 000 7000. “I appreciate anything, nothing goes unnoticed. My mom was the kindest, most beautiful person in the world, I just want to give her the mission she deserves.” You can donate to the fundraising page here.
