Mounties are investigating the beating of a 20-year-old woman who was killed in a pedestrian attack in Canmore on Sunday morning. The Canmore RCMP gave few details about the incident, but traffic reports say police responded to the scene on the Trans Canada Highway west of Canmore near the Visitor Information Center before 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

The RCMP diverts traffic to the east lane of Highway 1 from the Information Center on the Bow Valley Trail as officers continue their search. According to 511 Alberta, there is no estimated time to reopen the road.
