No one was injured during the unusual road trip, but police saw the funny side as they called the boy “the new Max Verstappen”, from the Dutch Formula 1 hero. Police said the boy woke up on Saturday when his dad went to work and took the keys to his mother’s car “to go by car”. After police were called to pick him up, there was a report of an abandoned vehicle nearby, which appeared to have hit two parked cars. It was registered to the boy’s mother and so the police called her. Handing the phone to the young driver, police said the cheeky student imitated driving and gestured by turning the steering wheel. “Then we realized that the child may have been the driver,” the Instagram post continued. The infant was given some hot chocolate at the police station and a teddy bear, before reuniting with his troubled mom. Together they went to the scene of the accident, where the child – whom his mother described as “inventive” – was asked if he could show how the car worked. In an extraordinary moment, the lad opened the car with the key and set it on fire. He then moved his foot to the clutch and accelerator pedals, police said, as if trying to get away. Police have asked the children’s parents to hide their car keys in the future to stop getting behind the wheel again.
