A 73-year-old man died after a boat accident on a lake near Green’s Harbor this morning. The RCMP was called around 9:30 a.m. to attend the Scotch’s Pond stage in a 12-foot yacht. The Whitbourne RCMP says a man and woman had launched the boat into the lake to go fishing around 6:30 a.m. this morning. During the repositioning of the boats, the man started the engine, lost his balance and fell into the water. Police say the woman made several attempts to get the man back on the boat, but failed. Eventually he entered the water, brought the man’s body back to shore and left to ask for help. The investigation is assisted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
