Emergency services were called to Longsight Road in Ramsbottom around 3pm after a bus caught fire.  It is unknown at this time what caused the fire. Two fire trucks arrived at the scene. 

Darren Fazakerli was on the bus heading to Berry for a few drinks for the holidays with his wife when he stopped on Longsight Street. READ MORE: CRASH: Police block busy street after reports of young boy injured in car crash – latest updates “Some young men on board told the bus driver that the bus was on fire and they thought it was the engine,” he told Manchester Evening News . “The driver of the bus got off to take a look and rushed back and told everyone to get off quickly. “It was a bit surreal as when we got off we could see the flames under the hood of the bus.” “Everyone got off the bus quickly thanks to the driver and most boarded another bus, so the flames were on the windshield,” he said. “Fortunately everyone was fine, just in a bit of a shock as we thought the young boys on the bus were just kidding.” Upload video Video is not available Click to play Click to play The video will play automatically soon8Cancel Play now A GMFRS spokesman said: “Around 3 p.m. On Sunday, May 1, two fire engines from Ramsbottom and Bolton North Fire Stations watched a vehicle fire on Longsight Road in Greenmount, Bury. “The fire broke out on a bus which was well lit when firefighters arrived at the scene. “Firefighters wearing respirators used two spools of hose to put out the fire and were present for about an hour.” Residents said they saw the driver and a passenger standing on the road after the 472 Diamond bus overturned. No one is believed to have been injured.
